High impedance D-Sub connectors are designed to ground the outer shield of a twinax or quadrax contact directly to the shell of the connector. A multi-finger ground spring fixed around the shell provides a multi-point contact engagement that affords superior EMI shielding. The DLR joint project HAP-alpha is developing such a technology demonstrator and is endeavoring to establish a complete system capable of permanent operation. The aim is for DLR to build up comprehensive expertise for the development of high-performance, high-flying solar aircraft and to play an active role in shaping the legal framework. In summer 2025, the HAP-alpha successfully passed a ground vibration test.

Rolatube IAM (Integrated Antenna Mast) is a lightweight, man-portable communications mast that integrates a high-efficiency dipole antenna directly into its structure—redefining rapid tactical deployment. Built from Rolatube’s proprietary bistable composite, the IAM unrolls to full height without tools, enabling users to connect and transmit in seconds. Available in 3.5 m and 7 m models, the mast weighs just 1.9 kg and packs down to a 150 mm roll, offering unmatched portability for dismounted operations. Designed for reliable RF performance, the IAM ensures no signal loss when in contact with grounded surfaces. Its embedded omni-directional dipole antenna delivers superior range and VOR communication performance compared to traditional systems. The 3.5 m IAM comes in VHF (30–300 MHz) and UHF (136–470 MHz) variants, each available in four colours, with a top-cap socket for L-Band antenna integration, extending the system’s use to applications such as telemetry, GPS, and aircraft surveillance. The mast can be handheld, guyed, or elevated via an integrated rigging point, and is engineered to meet MIL-STD-810G, fully maintenance-free, and resistant to water, dust, and UV. With a wind rating of 100 km/h (62 mph) when guyed, the IAM stands up to demanding field environments while delivering high-performance, elevated communications infrastructure at the tactical edge.

STIM300 is a small, tactical grade, low weight, high performance non-GPS aided Inertial Measurement Unit. It contains 3 highly accurate MEMS gyros, 3 high stability accelerometers and 3 inclinometers. The IMU is factory calibrated and compensated over its entire operating temperature range. STIM300 is a cost-effective ITAR free solution for systems that only had FOGs as an alternative when reaching for the performance level of that STIM300 can offer. Each axis is factory calibrated for bias, sensitivity and compensated for temperature effects to provide high-accuracy measurements. The unit runs off a single +5V supply and communicates via a RS422 interface. The use of a 32-bit RISC ARM microcontroller provides flexibility in the configuration, like choice of output unit, sampling frequency, LP filter -3dB frequency and RS422 bit-rate and protocol parameters. For more advanced users, STIM277H may be put in Service Mode. In this mode all the configuration parameters can be temporarily or permanently changed by overwriting the current settings in the flash memory. Service Mode also provides the ability to perform single measurements, perform diagnostics and obtain a higher detail in the status byte.
