The KF-21 is the project which aims to replae the aged fighters in operation, F-4, and F-5 of the Republic of Korea Air Force and develop the indigenous Korean fighter aircraft which is equipped with performances suitable for the future battlefield of the country's air force. Korea's largest-scaled KF-21 project is the national R&D project with a development span of 10 years and 6 months and is driven with Indonesia under international joint development. Based on its development experience and infrastructure of a homegrown airplane, such as the KT-1 basic trainer, T-50 Advanced Jet Trainer, TA-50 Lead-in-Fighter-Trainer, and FA-50 Light Combat Aircraft, KAI is under development of the KF-21 project successfully. Through this project, KAI plans to develop the aerospace technology of Korea and contribute to national peace and security as well as economic development.

The Crane stands as a state-of-the-art Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR) detector. This device features a 5-megapixel resolution in a 2560×2048 format with a fine 5μm pitch. It is based on SCD's established XBn technology or Hot Full Midwave (HFM) and incorporates a digital readout circuit developed using an advanced CMOS process. The High Operating Temperature (HOT) Focal Plane Array (FPA) functions efficiently at 150K or 120K, enabling a large-format detector that excels in image quality while maintaining a relatively compact size, weight, and power consumption. The solid-state quartz sensors and hermetically sealed IMU construction provide reliable MTBF and a 20-year operating and storage life. Continuous Built-in Test (BIT), configurable communications protocols, electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection and flexible input power compatibility make the SDI170 IMU easy to use in a wide range of higher-order integrated commercial and defense system applications.
