EMCORE’s SDI170 IMU is designed as a performance-compatible inertial system that is form, fit, and functional with a legacy RLG-based IMU product, but with superior overall performance, versatility, and a significantly higher MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) rating over ruggedized environments. The tactical performance of the SDI170 IMU is based on EMCORE’s mature, proven, dependable and accurate quartz MEMS inertial sensor technology in our SDI500 tactical-grade IMU. It is constructed with EMCORE’s latest generation quartz gyros, quartz accelerometers, and high-speed signal processing to achieve outstanding precision performance. It is an UAV recovery system that lands a fixed-wing UAV even in mountainous terrain where there is no sufficient runway for landing. This rocket nozzle featuring conformal cooling channels and isogrid ribbing was manufactured using EOS Copper CuCP, a pure copper material optimized for additive manufacturing. The production required approximately 72 hours, taking advantage of the exceptional thermal and electrical conductivity of pure copper to meet demanding aerospace performance requirements. As one of the few companies in Korea capable of performing metal additive manufacturing with pure copper, we provide advanced technical expertise and support OEM production as well as collaborative technology development projects with various industrial partners. The showcased component was designed by nTopology and demonstrates the synergy of advanced design optimization with state-of-the-art copper additive manufacturing.
