Between Earth and space: stratosphere-compatible, solar-powered high-altitude aircraft, known as HAPs (High Altitude Platforms), offer a sustainable alternative to satellites for Earth observation and communication. They are reusable, cost-effective and flexible in use. The DLR joint project HAP-alpha is developing such a technology demonstrator and is endeavoring to establish a complete system capable of permanent operation. The aim is for DLR to build up comprehensive expertise for the development of high-performance, high-flying solar aircraft and to play an active role in shaping the legal framework. In summer 2025, the HAP-alpha successfully passed a ground vibration test.

A REDCOM SVG system consists of one or more REDCOM Sigma® SVG-1200 units and a series of standard production General Dynamics Sectéra vIPer phones. Each REDCOM SVG-1200 can interface with up to 12 vIPer phones, which act as voice encryptors for TDM or VoIP voice networks. The encryptors allow any line, trunk, or conference port to conduct secure voice communications with any SCIP-capable device. If more than 12 secure talk paths are required, multiple SVG-1200 units may be networked together.

The SDT F 16 Combat Training Pod is mounted on F-16 and similar air platforms in an external pod, and ensures efficiency in exercises and in the provision of air-to-air and air-to-ground tactics training to pilots. SDT F - 16 Combat Training Pod features advanced air-to-air and air-to-ground combat training capabilities, such as real-time autonomous position generation, weapon simulation and real-time hit/miss notification, thanks to its long-range and high-speed RF data link and integrated processors. The system has mission planning, live monitoring, debriefing and analysis/evaluation features. The SDT F 16 Combat Training Pod enables training in real flight conditions and in multi-threat/target environments. Its high-speed data link and modular design mean that the System is also a Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) training infrastructure.

The system is designed to maximise installation flexibility, through optional power and diagnostics data over RF (permitting the use of a single cable), and a highly reconfigurable baseplate to allow the mounting holes and connector type/ position to be tailored to the target platform. Use of Chelton’s established and field-tested GNSS Anti-Jam core firmware provides a high degree of protection against complex threat scenarios and in highly dynamic environments. A software definable core allows future upgradeable ‘Signal Intelligence Apps’ to be hosted, providing the user with situational awareness of the battlefield environment and allows feedback into mission planning activities.
