The NSP-5 is an all-weather, multimode, Ku-band radar designed to fly on Group 3-4 Unmanned Airborne Systems (UAS). Its low-Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) design means ample room for other onboard sensors, such as Electro-Optical and Infrared (EO/IR) cameras. This means users can understand the bigger picture. The NSP-5 is capable of performing spot and stripmap Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Magnitude Change Detection (MCD), as well as Moving Target Indication (MTI) collections in a variety of maritime and land environments in all weather conditions. This includes smoke, fog and other obscurations where the operators do not have a clear view of the terrain below them. The NSP-5 has a proven track record of reliability and has a recommended maintenance interval of 2,000 hours. Additionally, the modular design makes the NSP-5 easy to integrate onto most platforms.

Developed by MPS Microsystems, the voice-coil nano-positioner unites a Lorentz-force motor, flexure guidance and on-board electronics inside a 65 × 60 × 38 mm envelope. Standard travel is 2.88 mm, extendable to 7 mm with the same coil, suiting microscope objectives, small mirrors and sensors that demand friction-free motion. Bidirectional repeatability stays within ±1 µm over a 360 µm stroke and ±2.5 µm across the full stroke. The UHF-band TRX module features transmit diversity, allowing selection between two transmit ports and providing an output power of at least 1 W. It includes a gain control function for transmission and an internal local oscillator for IF-to-UHF upconversion. Transmit functions also include ALC (Automatic Level Control) and over-temperature protection. On the receive side, the module selects one of two input channels and performs downconversion. It supports AGC (Automatic Gain Control) with a response time of 80 µs, enabling real-time gain adjustment based on input signal level. The dynamic range of the receive input spans from -100 dBm to -20 dBm, and the noise figure is 5.0 dB or less. Both transmit and receive paths include built-in path self-test functions.

KMC Series includes high-density board to board and board to wire interconnect solutions available in multiple configurations from 26 to 162 positions with a 0.5mm contact diameter and is widely used in harsh environments. Space grade/ESA/ESCC qualified are also available.
