BAE Systems has acted as the manufacturer and systems integrator of the Bradley program for over 30 years, including conducting various upgrades based on customer needs and mission requirements. Over the life of the Bradley program, there have been several survivability upgrades, including installation of underbelly protection and the Bradley Urban Survivability Kits (BUSK), further enhancing the safety of one of the most survivable vehicles in the fleet.

The focus on buy-to-fly ratios highlights the contributing role that near net shape processing can offer. This has undoubtedly been a driver in increasing this service offering from AMA. As a major contributor in the aircraft manufacturing supply chain, this is a key area of development for AMA and its companies. Customers are increasingly looking to optimise their production processes. This is primarily driven by the need to maximise their own spindle time for core business activities, with AMA therefore undertaking some of the machining processes. It can take many forms, from simple cutting to more intricate processing in which near net shape pieces are supplied. Even in AMA businesses whose business is predominantly transactional (so called ‘spot business’) rather than contractual, the processing element is increasing. Pre-machined kits of parts to individual specifications are becoming more commonplace. In addition to freeing up time for customers and OEMs to focus on more profitable final processing, near net shape processes can improve product quality, reduce variability and enhance component design functionality. As the industry continues to search for ways to lower buy-to-fly ratios and reduce the amount of waste, near net shape processing will have a greater role to play.

A VGA (640×480) LWIR (8–12 µm) uncooled micro-bolometer module with 12 µm pixel pitch and NETD ≤ 50 mK, paired with an F1.0, 10.7 mm EFL lens delivering H42° / V31.5° / D52.5° FOV. The SCXMC-HDLC card operates through the XMC interface of the SBC and provides real-time communication for control and status data based on synchronization signals. It supports serial communication via the SBCRTM’s Micro D-sub 37-pin connector using a standard D-sub 9-pin interface, allowing long-distance transmission through LVDS signaling. With four transmit/receive channels, it achieves 1–8 Mbps per channel and delivers low-latency performance of less than 40 µs for real-time operations. A device driver program is required for operation, and the Linux driver can be downloaded from Seedcore’s product page. Drivers for other operating systems can be developed upon request. This module is deployed in the L-SAM multi-function radar system, enabling fast and reliable control data communication across mission-critical components.
