SAIT CIRUS has been fortunate to receive generous funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and Prairies Canada to support the development of our research centre and supporting applied research projects. Our research centre features a diverse and advanced fleet of remotely piloted aircraft, sensors, survey equipment, data processing and modeling software, and hardware. Some of our remotely piloted systems are the only ones in North America, making CIRUS a leading research centre on the continent.

Hermetic connectors are a special class of sealed Mil /Aero interconnect that incorporates glass-to-metal or other highly-engineered sealing technology. Hermetic seal connectors are specified for applications as divergent as submarines and orbiting satellites. They are deployed to resist moisture ingress in underground applications and to withstand pressure differentials in vacuum chambers, laboratory equipment and commercial and military aircraft. Hermetic seal connectors, such as the MIL-DTL-38999 Series I, II, III and IV supplied by Glenair, are principally designed for use in military aerospace — in fact, the sealing requirement for connector hermeticity was originally driven by military electronic applications. But the products are equally at home in commercial applications such as oil-patch, logging equipment or medical devices.

Digital mission engineering tools connect every stage of the engineering product lifecycle, from initial design to operation. They enable reality-based 3D simulation across multi-domain environments such as air, space, land, and sea by incorporating high-resolution terrain, satellite orbits, RF and radar systems, and sensor environments to accurately replicate real mission conditions. With accurate dynamics-based physical models at the core, these tools provide quantitative analysis of relative positioning between systems, changes in altitude and attitude, line-of-sight availability, and communication link status. Users can predict and evaluate mission elements such as sensor operations, communication links, platform maneuvers, and orbit optimization through scenario-based simulations.

ts advanced integrated optics and closed-loop Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) electronics deliver much higher accuracy, lower noise and greater efficiency than competing technologies. In addition, the EG-1300 can be calibrated internally for better thermal effect and has both digital and analog outputs, along with separation of the electronics from the FOG’s sensing coil assembly to accommodate the widest variety of installation parameters. Designed on MPS Microsystems’ modular optomechanics platform, the High-Speed Coaxial Lens Actuator delivers custom-engineered, micron-level alignment in a footprint of just 170 × 87 × 45 mm. Two brushless motors drive lens holders (Ø 12.7 mm) that move in the same precision-machined bore, guaranteeing perfect coaxiality throughout the 3.75 mm stroke and no shimming or iterative alignment required. The closed-loop cam mechanism runs friction-free, ensuring a maintenance-free stage that can be used in laser machining heads, spectrometers or 3-D scanners and keeps working for millions of cycles. Most importantly, stroke, motor, encoder and mounting interfaces of this high-speed coaxial lens actuator can all be customized to fit your needs with regards to optical and space constraints.
