The KARI was established in 1989 as a national aerospace research institution. KARI undertakes national R&D projects in the area of aircraft, satellite and space launch vehicle. Over the past years, KARI has secured advanced satellite technology through the development of LEO & GEO satellites. KARI has successfully launched Nuri, which is capable of lifting 1.5 ton class satellite and Danuri, Korea’s first lunar orbiter. KARI has obtained aviation technology through various programs. KARI is continuing to engage in exploring, developing and spreading new technologies in the aerospace sector.
