The DRU-H-R has growth capacity to add an embedded Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM) GPS with M-code capability. It can also be configured to function in unmanned, rotational and shipboard environments. The DRU-H-R is an advanced precision navigation system that provides accurate vehicle position and attitude data. This unit replaced the DRU-H on Paladin and Firefinder, both playing critical roles in supporting U.S. ground forces in all phases of active combat operations. The EMCORE DRU-H-R design upgraded system performance by using high accuracy, combat-proven inertial sensors currently fielded on the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), High-Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), and Improved Position and Azimuth Determining System (IPADS). With a peak torque of >200Nm / 1770 lbf-in and a rated torque of 80Nm / 708 lbf-in, the fully redundant DA 58-D is the strongest, electromechanical, fully integrated (actuator control electronics, position sensing, motor and drivetrain in one housing) actuator in the market. Besides the well-proven redundant RS 485 interface, the DA 58-D also features a redundant CAN bus interface. The DA 58-D has been developed for applications with the highest reliability demands. The redundant – two channel – design of the actuator allows continuous operation even if one of the two channels has failed. All major components such as the electric motors, control and communication electronics, and power supply are available twice (redundant). The actuator features a triple-redundant position sensor (2 out of 3 voting). Additionally there are several sensors integrated to provide diagnostic information such as current consumption, supply voltage levels and temperature readings. All major components of the actuator are continuously diagnosed by the microcontrollers of the actuator and its health status can be read via the redundant RS485 / CAN interface.

Whether satellites, spacecraft or space debris – GESTRA, the "German Experimental Surveillance and Tracking Radar", is a state-of-the-art radar system for observing and tracking objects in space. It operates in the microwave range and explores the Low Earth Orbit of 300 to 3,000 kilometres, i.e. the range in which most satellites and the International Space Station (ISS) are located. This makes it possible, for example, to protect space systems or the ISS from a collision with debris particles by providing a timely warning. Millions of tiny particles orbit the earth and, at a speed of around 28,000 km/h, pose a threat to active space technologies. GESTRA was developed and built by the Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques FHR on behalf of the German Space Agency at DLR.
