The CAS-500(Compact Advanced Satellite), phase #1 project is the project in which KAI aims to develop a CAS500-1 by operating a joint design team with Korea Aerospace Research Institute(KARI) and to transfer the government’s satellite development technology to the industries. Then, KAI initiates the development of the CAS500-2 project and establish the industry-led development as well as mass-production infrastructure.

Consists of a Data Transmission and Recording Unit (DTRU) for data transmission and collection, and a Removable Mass Memory (RMM) for data storage. Stores pre-planned flight mission data in the RMM on the ground and transmits it to the aircraft via the DTRU. Developed in 2002 as a single-soldier, short-range, anti-tank weapon system, we continue to work with soldiers to provide the weaponry needed to succeed. Backed by nearly two decades of experience, the resurgence of the tank in battle validates our expertise in this field. It’s the same old story – and David still beats Goliath.

In collaboration with Hanwha Systems, we developed and optimized a Transformer-based AI model for ship and aircraft detection on embedded platforms. Targeting NVIDIA Jetson Orin AGX, the project utilized the MSAR (640×640) dataset along with large-scale training databases built from public sources. The RT-DETR model, currently under review, was optimized through hardware-friendly design, Int8 quantization, and specialized inference acceleration. As a result, the solution achieved up to 5x faster inference speed while maintaining accuracy, reaching 20% of NVIDIA TensorRT performance. This demonstrates the ability to deliver reliable, real-time detection capabilities in resource-constrained embedded environments, enabling next-generation defense and surveillance applications.
