EMCORE’s SDI170 IMU is designed as a performance-compatible inertial system that is form, fit, and functional with a legacy RLG-based IMU product, but with superior overall performance, versatility, and a significantly higher MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) rating over ruggedized environments. The tactical performance of the SDI170 IMU is based on EMCORE’s mature, proven, dependable and accurate quartz MEMS inertial sensor technology in our SDI500 tactical-grade IMU. EMCORE’s quartz technology enables repeatable high-volume production of precisely machined sensor structures combined with the inherent large signal output and thermal stability of quartz materials. The SDI170 IMU is designed for demanding, mission-critical, rugged environments and ideal for continuous use applications with no wear-out components, highly linear accelerometer performance and longer life compared to competing alternatives. It is constructed with EMCORE’s latest generation quartz gyros, quartz accelerometers, and high-speed signal processing to achieve outstanding precision performance. The solid-state quartz sensors and hermetically sealed IMU construction provide reliable MTBF and a 20-year operating and storage life. The Bradley A4 features the latest digitized electronics for optimum situational awareness, network connectivity and communication within the Armored Brigade Combat Team. The Bradley A4’s proven durability and commonality of design reduce the logistics burden, while enhancing battlefield performance to meet a variety of mission requirements in close- combat, urban scenarios and open-combat situations.

Survivability – Improvements to the Fire Suppression and IED jammer components further enhance survivability by reducing the likelihood of system detectability and target acquisition by external systems and defeats external threats.

Mobility – System is capable of maximizing its acceleration capabilities due to the increased engine horsepower in order to provide rapid movement of the System in reaction to combat or other adverse situations. Enhanced mobility function provides driver with improved situational awareness and mobility functionality status. Lethality – Leveraging the lethality functionality from its predecessor, the Bradley A4 consists of full ballistic fire control hosted on a new central processing unit, aided dual-target tracking, automatic gun target adjustment, automatic bore sighting and hunter-killer capabilities. The Bushmaster 25mm cannon fires both explosive and armor piercing rounds, while TOW missiles defeat enemy armor. The 7.62mm coaxial machine gun provides high volume fires at close ranges.

Networkability – Integration of improved computing system assets allows housing of more robust software applications in order to provide improved near real-time networking situational awareness to soldiers on both platform variants.

Supportability – Improvements to on-board diagnostics systems provide increased fault detection and isolation capabilities and added interactive electronic manuals enhance maintenance capability.
