Poongsan has been producing a variety of copper and copper alloy plates, ranging from copper products for everyday life to high-tech industrial materials. These copper and copper alloy plates, which are recognized as high-quality materials at home and abroad, are representative industrial basic materials that are widely used in all industrial fields, including automobiles, electrical and electronics, semiconductors, communications, construction, and machinery. Poongsan has various casting facilities, including the world's largest shaft furnace, a hot mill capable of continuously rolling 6-ton slabs, a tandem mill, and a 20-stage cold rolling mill, as well as various hot and cold rolling facilities and heat treatment furnaces. We are building a large-scale integrated production system from the casting process to finishing processes such as cutting and packaging. In particular, in response to market demands for new high-strength copper alloys due to technological advancements such as the Internet of Things and electric vehicles, we have developed new alloys (P1000HS and others) and are applying them to high-tech products requested by customers.

The Boreas 50 fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) is a highly accurate and reliable navigation technology. It’s the result of over 25 years of development in partnership with two research institutions. The gyroscope uses a closed-loop optical coil and an advanced spread-spectrum digital modulation technique to improve accuracy, stability, and reliability while reducing size, weight, power, and cost. Gyrocompass North-Seeking The Boreas range of fiber optic gyroscopes (FOGs) can determine heading without needing a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) or a magnetometer. By sensing the Earth’s rotation, the system’s north-seeking algorithm can acquire an accurate heading. This is possible in static and dynamic conditions, even at high latitudes. Reliability Boreas 50 has been designed from the ground up for rugged reliability. Both the hardware and software are tested and certified to environmental and electromagnetic standards (MIL-STD 461 and MIL-STD 810H). The precision aluminum enclosure is waterproof and dustproof to the IP67 standard. The system is resilient to shock and vibration, allowing it to be used in extreme conditions. The HXB15 Connectors, featuring expanded beam technology, hermaphroditic connection, rugged construction for field deployment and hybrid configurations, have been designed for harsh environment applications such as military tactical communications, avionics, offshore systems, outside broadcast, mining and plant.

The expanded beam technology uses expanded and collimated beams to couple optical fibers without any contact. It could allow for optics to be used in areas that have been quite restrictive due to presence of damage or contamination at the fiber end. Hermaphroditic connector design enables fast deployment by daisy-chaining multiple cable segments. HXB15 connectors also enable transfer of electrical signal or power using hybrid insert configuration.
