Hermetic connectors are a special class of sealed Mil /Aero interconnect that incorporates glass-to-metal or other highly-engineered sealing technology. Hermetic seal connectors are specified for applications as divergent as submarines and orbiting satellites. They are deployed to resist moisture ingress in underground applications and to withstand pressure differentials in vacuum chambers, laboratory equipment and commercial and military aircraft. Hermetic seal connectors, such as the MIL-DTL-38999 Series I, II, III and IV supplied by Glenair, are principally designed for use in military aerospace — in fact, the sealing requirement for connector hermeticity was originally driven by military electronic applications. But the products are equally at home in commercial applications such as oil-patch, logging equipment or medical devices.

The R10s is a reconnaissance and surveillance drone capable of conducting up to two hours of mission flight, transmitting real-time information such as target location and scale to the ground control system. Based on the company’s innovative vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) platform “Bluebird,” the R10s is equipped with EO/IR optical sensors and a laser range finder for advanced target detection. Upon receiving mission orders, the R10s takes off vertically, transitions to fixed-wing flight, and proceeds to the designated area. Its onboard cameras and sensors identify and track targets, relaying precise coordinates to the ground control system. Additional control and H.264 IP streaming interfaces greatly increase the VDU flexibility and enable information sharing between vehicles. Controlled by the crew or the gearbox switch, the VDU processes the selected camera channels, mixes and scales multiple camera information, performs driver assistance and tactical overlays of text and icons, and fi nally routes the selected view data to the respective output for display on the cockpit monitors. Best in class signal processing techniques and scaling algorithms guarantee the low latency generation of crisp and sharp images even under severe difficult ambient light conditions.
