The Transmit/Receive Module splits 2 transmit input channels into 32 output channels. Each channel delivers an output power of at least 3.2 W with a transmit efficiency of 35.5% or higher. It features independent phase control for each transmit channel. On the receive side, 32 input channels are combined into two output channels. The total receive gain is 34 dB or greater, and each channel supports individual gain and phase control. The noise figure is 3.5 dB or lower per channel. Whether satellites, spacecraft or space debris – GESTRA, the "German Experimental Surveillance and Tracking Radar", is a state-of-the-art radar system for observing and tracking objects in space. It operates in the microwave range and explores the Low Earth Orbit of 300 to 3,000 kilometres, i.e. the range in which most satellites and the International Space Station (ISS) are located. This makes it possible, for example, to protect space systems or the ISS from a collision with debris particles by providing a timely warning. GESTRA was developed and built by the Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques FHR on behalf of the German Space Agency at DLR.

To ensure that the correct high speed connectors are mated to address specific wiring requirements and keying functions, a keyed jack post option has been incorporated into the design. The six-positioned post allows for 36 possible keying combinations assuring that the correct Fibre Channel D-Sub plug is mated to the correct high speed receptacle. Non-keyed jack post versions are available as well. Fibre Channel D-Sub connectors feature size 3 quadrax contacts which are 30% larger than the size 9 configuration utilized in the 100 Ohm quadrax, ensuring a matched impedance signal throughout the contact mated pair at 150 Ohm differential impedance.
