SAIT CIRUS has been fortunate to receive generous funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and Prairies Canada to support the development of our research centre and supporting applied research projects. Our research centre features a diverse and advanced fleet of remotely piloted aircraft, sensors, survey equipment, data processing and modeling software, and hardware. Some of our remotely piloted systems are the only ones in North America, making CIRUS a leading research centre on the continent.

AB-U60
The AB-U60 is a 60kg-class vectored-thrust eVTOL aircraft designed for surveillance and emergency logistics. Developed in response to the growing global demand for disaster response and urgent logistics solutions, the AB-U60 can be adapted for a variety of industries, including wildfire monitoring, anti-drone operations, and ship resupply. It combines an advanced fanjet electric propulsion system with a hybrid energy source to achieve high-speed flight and extended endurance.
Airbility’s AB-U60 provides key advantages over competitors, offering high-speed flight of up to 200 km/h and vertical takeoff and landing capabilities for operations in confined spaces. Its low-noise fanjet propulsion system makes it suitable for both urban and suburban missions. The aircraft is also equipped with real-time data analysis and AI-based autonomous flight control systems. These features enable more efficient and safer operations.

Cardinal 1280
The Cardinal 1280 is a high-definition SWIR InGaAs detector featuring a 10μm pixel pitch. This detector offers high resolution and sensitivity, enabling EO/IR systems to capitalize on the SWIR spectrum for low-light imaging and extremely long-range daytime surveillance, even in challenging weather conditions like smoke, dust, fog, or rain. It incorporates SCD's advanced Asynchronous Laser Pulse Detection (ALPD) technology. A Thermo Electric Cooler (TEC) is included for optimal performance of the Focal Plane Array (FPA) in low light level scenarios. SCD is committed to standing alongside our customers, ensuring they receive the finest solutions available.
