The Boreas 50 fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) is a highly accurate and reliable navigation technology. It’s the result of over 25 years of development in partnership with two research institutions. The gyroscope uses a closed-loop optical coil and an advanced spread-spectrum digital modulation technique to improve accuracy, stability, and reliability while reducing size, weight, power, and cost. Gyrocompass North-Seeking The Boreas range of fiber optic gyroscopes (FOGs) can determine heading without needing a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) or a magnetometer. By sensing the Earth’s rotation, the system’s north-seeking algorithm can acquire an accurate heading. This is possible in static and dynamic conditions, even at high latitudes. Reliability Boreas 50 has been designed from the ground up for rugged reliability. Both the hardware and software are tested and certified to environmental and electromagnetic standards (MIL-STD 461 and MIL-STD 810H). The precision aluminum enclosure is waterproof and dustproof to the IP67 standard. The system is resilient to shock and vibration, allowing it to be used in extreme conditions. From the rocket launcher to its upper assembly, the bomb rack unit, completing a full weapon system as one set. The rocket launcher is a weapon system independently designed to launch guided missiles or rockets through 7-tube and 19-tube launchers, enabling both single and multiple firings. Through its development, independence of the weapon system has been secured, and structural stability has been achieved by applying a design that considers aircraft vibration and aerodynamic effects. In addition, it is equipped with the capability to receive the system’s firing signal and ignite the rocket. Based on the successful development in 2017 of the 7-tube 2.75-inch rocket launcher assembly for helicopters, the company is now independently developing upgraded versions of the 7-tube and 19-tube rocket launcher assemblies. Through this effort, we are securing scalability for application to next-generation helicopters and UAV systems.

The system is designed to maximise installation flexibility, through optional power and diagnostics data over RF (permitting the use of a single cable), and a highly reconfigurable baseplate to allow the mounting holes and connector type/ position to be tailored to the target platform. Use of Chelton’s established and field-tested GNSS Anti-Jam core firmware provides a high degree of protection against complex threat scenarios and in highly dynamic environments. A software definable core allows future upgradeable ‘Signal Intelligence Apps’ to be hosted, providing the user with situational awareness of the battlefield environment and allows feedback into mission planning activities.
